Amazon workers are preparing to go on strike on November 24, which happens to be this year's Black Friday, one of the biggest trading days of the year. Frustrated employees are demanding better wages and the recognition of unions at the world's largest retailer.

Global Day of Action

The strike plans were finalized at a summit held by campaign group Progressive International in Manchester. The group's spokesman, David Adler, stated that this year's global day of action is expected to be the largest yet, with workers from various countries going on strike and joining other protests.

Amazon's Profits Triple

According to Amazon's recent financial results, the company's profits nearly tripled to £8.1 billion in the last quarter, compared to £2.39 billion the previous year. This has led workers to argue that the company can afford to pay them more.

UK Workers to Strike

UK workers at Amazon will also be participating in the strike. More than 1,000 members of the GMB union based in Coventry will be striking from November 7 to 9, as well as on Black Friday.

An Amazon spokesman responded to the strike plans, saying, "We always strive to be better, and while we know we've got more work to do, we're proud of the progress we've made."
