Bank of England governor remains 'neutral' on Brexit
The Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has stated that Brexit has created opportunities for Britain. In a recent interview with Prospect magazine, Bailey emphasized the Bank's role in remaining neutral on Brexit.
Protecting the market and industry
Bailey noted that Brexit has enabled the preservation of much of the market and industry within the UK, stating, "I think we have protected, and in a sense ensured, that much of the market and much of the industry remains here. And that's been important."
Short-term negative effects
Although Bailey acknowledged that there have been short-term negative effects on the economy due to reduced openness, he stressed the importance of policy makers in safeguarding financial stability.
Unknown future shocks
Looking ahead, Bailey warned that there may still be further large shocks in the future that are currently unknown, adding to the volatility of recent years.
