Unique Collection

An 80-year-old pensioner, Harrie van de Bosch, made a staggering £75,500 by selling over 800 mini car toys at an auction. The collection included iconic Ferrari and Maserati models, as well as a unique Weetabix truck. Among the set were over 150 Dinky Toys and hundreds of Bedford Vans, many still in their original boxes.

A Childhood Dream Come True

Van de Bosch's fascination with Dinky Toys began in his post-World War II childhood in the Netherlands. Unable to afford these luxury toys as a child, he started collecting them when he became a father, eventually expanding his collection through toy fairs and online auctions.

The Journey of a Collector

Attending toy fairs across Europe, van de Bosch's collection grew in size and value. He meticulously kept track of his inventory on a handwritten list, which proved invaluable when it came time to sell the toys at auction. His children even used the list to choose gifts for him.

From Soap Bars to Toy Cars

In a similar story, another collector, Stephanie Weaver, sold her decades-old collection of unique soap bars at an auction. Her collection, gathered over years from hotel bathrooms, included soaps with fun imprints and shapes, such as a crown-shaped soap marking Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953.
