A retired NHS worker, Meg Carr, 69, and her husband Andy, 53, have won twelve lottery prizes totaling £144,000. The couple faced the possibility of losing their home before hitting the jackpot with the Postcode Lottery's "An Unforgettable Year" prize.

Near loss of home

Meg Carr revealed that they were on the verge of losing their now-converted farmhouse in the early 1990s. British Coal had successfully obtained a compulsory purchase order, forcing them out of the property for over two decades before they could buy it back.

Plans for the winnings

Meg Carr, who now works as a dog courier, shared her plans to spend the winning amount. The couple intends to embark on a dream trip to Japan, which has been on their bucket list for quite some time. They also plan to donate to charities close to their hearts, including organizations that support African charities and provide burial gowns for stillborn babies.

Transformation of their property

Andy, who is an HGV driver, expressed his desire to purchase a new digger to help with the transformation of the land around their farmhouse. He aims to improve the rutted track leading to their home and make the land work more efficient.
