The Tory grandee blasted the Whitehall mandarins as only 600 EU laws will be revoked rather than the planned 4,000 by the end of the year.

He pointed to a pledge made by Rishi Sunak during his leadership campaign last summer to review or repeal EU laws in his first 100 days in office.
But Mr Rees-Mogg hit back at claims he had left a “poisoned brief” for his successors in the shape of the Retained EU Law bill.
He told Sky News that the mandarins have been “very idle” and “need to have worked harder”.
Ministers have warned of the “unintended consequences” of getting rid of the legislation too quickly which could damage UK interests.
