Boosting Funds for No 10 Push

Labour has accepted a generous £1 million donation from former Just Stop Oil supporter Dale Vince, through his Ecotricity firm, to assist in funding their general election bid. This donation comes as Sir Keir Starmer's party aims to secure £35 million for their campaign for No 10.

Shifting Focus to Anti-Conservative Campaign

Dale Vince withdrew his support from Just Stop Oil last year, deeming their ongoing disruptions as "pointless." Now, he is redirecting his efforts towards supporting an anti-Conservative campaign alongside Labour.

Record Private Donations for Labour

According to Electoral Commission figures, Labour received a total of £13 million in private donations last year, marking their highest amount to date. Among their major donors was Autoglass boss Gary Lubner, contributing £4.5 million.

Contrasting Financial Support

Comparatively, the Conservative party received around £41 million in private cash donations during the same period, highlighting the significant financial backing for both major political parties.

Controversy Surrounding Vince's Support

Last year, Dale Vince was observed fist-bumping a police officer during a march, where he commended eco-warriors for their bravery. This gesture has sparked criticism from senior Tories, urging Labour to return the donation.

Accusations and Criticisms

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has accused Labour's leader of allowing "eco-zealots" to shape the party's energy policies, expressing concerns about the reliance on foreign countries for the UK's energy supply.
