Individuals associated with such groups will be barred from engaging with government ministers and departments, as well as being ineligible for public appointments.
Ensuring Compliance
Although not legally binding, the new definition may be implemented in various settings such as universities, police, and the Crown Prosecution Service. Additionally, a Whitehall counter-extremism center has been established to uphold these measures.
Response to Hate Incidents
The move comes in response to a rise in anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim hate incidents following recent attacks, with Mr. Gove emphasizing the importance of preventing extremism from gaining a platform in government circles.
