Cherie Blair's background and career
Cherie Blair, born on September 23, 1954, in Waterloo, Merseyside, is the wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, who served from 1997 to 2007. She studied law at the London School of Economics and graduated with a First Class Degree. Cherie became a Queen's Counsel in 1995 and later became a founding member of Matrix Chambers in 2000. In 2011, she founded Omnia Strategy, an international law firm. Mrs. Blair is known for actively campaigning for human rights and equality for women and is closely involved with several charities worldwide.

A personal tragedy
In early August 2002, Cherie Blair suffered a miscarriage at the age of 47. Two years after their youngest child, Leo, was born, she spoke publicly for the first time about the miscarriage. Cherie revealed that her husband had to make the miscarriage public in order to protect his strategy over Iraq. She expressed her disbelief and shock that discussions about the media's response to her miscarriage were happening while she was still dealing with the physical and emotional pain of the loss.
