SUSAN HALL has been named as the Conservative party’s mayoral candidate for London.

The politician will go up against Labour mayor Sadiq Khan in the mayoral election in 2024.

Who is Susan Hall?

Susan Hall is from Harrow in London.

The Conservative politician has said that she wanted to be a mechanic when she was younger and worked in her father’s garage after finishing school.

She owns a hair salon in North West London, near to where she grew up.

What roles has Susan Hall worked in?

Susan was elected to Harrow Council in 2006 and went on to lead the council from 2013 to 2014.

She has been a member of the London Assembly since 2017, replacing cabinet minister Kemi Badenoch after her election to parliament.

Hall became deputy leader for the London Assembly Conservatives in 2018 and served as leader from 2019 to 2023.

She has been a supporter of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and also publicly backed Liz Truss‘ controversial mini-budget.

Hall has also supported Suella Braverman and her views on migration, as well as being a loyal supporter of a hard Brexit.

When is Susan Hall running for Mayor of London?

Hall was named as the Conservatives’ candidate for London Mayor in July 2023.

She was chosen by London Conservative party members, winning 57 per cent of the vote over her opponent Mozammel Hossain.

The mayoral election is scheduled for May 4, 20234.

In a statement, Susan said it was a “huge honour to be the Conservative candidate for mayor of London”.

She said: “I am so grateful to everyone for their support.

“I would also like to pay tribute to Moz for his positive and hard-fought campaign.

“Over the coming months, I will work tirelessly to defeat Sadiq Khan and offer Londoners the change we need.”

In a July 2023 interview with HOAR, Hall called Mr Khan a sexist who has a woman problem.

She has vowed to scrap the ULEZ expansion on day one if she ousts the Labour Mayor in the election.

Her campaign website also names tackling crime and the housing crisis as high on her list of priorities.

Is Susan Hall married?

According to reports, Susan married a hairdresser who she opened her hair salon with.

It is not currently known whether the pair are still together.
