TODAY we can’t imagine Prince William and Kate Middleton NOT being together – they seem like a brilliant match.
Since walking down the aisle in 2011, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed three adorable kids and taken part in amazing charity ventures.
But before they became parents and full-time working royals, the couple had a very ordinary romance.
Despite meeting at university in St Andrew’s, Scotland, in 2001, it wasn’t until two years later that Kate and Will, both 38, fell in love for the first time and began dating.
Then came the shock 2007 break-up – which, fortunately, only lasted a matter of months – and the happy engagement in 2010, followed by the fairy tale wedding a year later.
And now it’s been revealed the couple fell in love over shared jokes. “They got on well and shared an interest in sport and the outdoors, as well as a ‘naughty’ sense of humour,” the Mail on Sunday has reported today.
The paper also reminded us how Wills was friends with Kate, but never her saw her as anything more, before a famous student fashion show in aid of the 9/11 tragedy in which she wore a mesh frock.
Prince William was among the spectators, and certainly noticed when Kate stepped out in a mesh, see-through dress, which showed off her black underwear and left little to the imagination.
He’d paid £200 for a ticket and reportedly said, “Wow, Kate’s hot” (or something ruder) when she strutted her stuff.
A few months later the pair – both keen on sports – got together.
And brilliantly the dress was actually meant to be a skirt, designed by Charlotte Todd, but Kate yanked it up.
As the couple’s relationship continued, even their lectures poked fun with the colleges principal, Dr Brian Lang telling them as they graduated: “You may have met your husband or wife.”
