ZAK Dingle is one of the longest-standing residents of the Dales but could his story come to a devastating end?

The Dingles have been torn apart in recent scenes of the ITV soap after Caleb Milligan’s true motives were revealed.

It all started when his son Nicky told Gabby Thomas the truth before pulling out of his own wedding with the young mother.

Caleb admitted himself to Kim Tate and Cain Dingle that he was Frank Tate’s illegitimate son, born from an affair the latter had had with Faith Dingle.

Soon after he was exposed, Caleb decided to remain in the eponymous village, despite the Dingles urging him to leave altogether.

The schemer made enemies all throughout Emmerdale and tension eventually led him to be pushed off Woodland Ridge.

While he survived and was left in a coma, his relationship with the Dingle clan has been considerably damaged.

To make matters worse for the family, it was revealed that Dingle patriarch Zak (portrayed by Steve Halliwell) may face a harrowing health battle.

Next week, his daughter Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) admits that she is worried about his deteriorating condition.

Soon enough, her boyfriend Tom King (James Chase) is encouraged into action.

They then reveal what they’ve been working on – but could it help Zak?

Will Belle have to face losing another parent?

On May 23, 2019, the Dingles were heartbroken when Zak’s last wife Lisa drew her last breath.

She had been diagnosed with the rare condition amyloidosis which left her heart severely weakened.

Belle, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia years before the tragedy, was crushed and haunted by hallucinations of her late mother.

Could she go through a similar trauma?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
