Corrie fans have watched Alex grow up on the nation’s most famous street, having played Simon since 2008, aged six.
Speaking last year about his engagement last year, Bain said: “I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous’.
“I was pretty certain she’d say, ‘Yes’, but I was still bricking it. I can’t spend my life with anyone else.
“My parents married really young. They’ve always said to me that it seems like I’ve finally found someone I have a real connection with.
“My mum, especially, claims she knew Mollie was for me when she first met her.”
