Fans Call Out Major Blunder
CORONATION street viewers were left feeling confused over a major blunder after the ITV soap aired a shock exit for Summer Spellman. The student – who is played by actress Harriet Bibby in the ITV soap – has been offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America. Summer has struggled making a decision with her stepdad Paul Foreman’s impending death from motor neurone disease.
Summer's Decision to Study in America
Viewers know Paul is planning to take his own life before his suffering gets too bad. After a full and frank conversation with Paul, Summer made the decision to go and live her life in America, despite wanting to stay home to spend Paul’s final months with him. She got into a cab and headed off to the airport to spend months living in America.
Viewers Call Out Timing Blunder
However, fans were quick to point out a major blunder, noting that it is currently spring break in America and classes don't finish until May. Some viewers also found it odd that none of Summer's friends were there to see her off, with one suggesting that she may have lied about going to study in America.
