DRAMA continues to unfold in Weatherfield and one fan favourite will be reunited with a family member.

Coronation Street is set to welcome a new face and a beloved character’s past will finally come to light.

A new face is set to appear in the cobbles

Daisy will get a shocking blast from the past

Former EastEnders star Amy Robbins (right) will play the barmaid’s mother

Since her first appearance in the cobbles, Daisy Midgeley has been careful to keep her past shrouded in mystery.

The Rovers barmaid played by Charlotte Jordan has settled into Weatherfield life and is ready to tie the knot with her on-off partner, Daniel Osbourne.

But a blast from the past will soon cast a shadow over her plans for the future.

Following her brief stint in Emmerdale as Defence Barrister Milligan, actress Amy Robbins is joining the Corrie line-up.

The former Hollyoaks and EastEnders star will take on the role of Christina, Daisy’s estranged mother.

“She’s chaotic, selfish, hates Jenny Connor!”, soap boss Iain MacLeod teased during a chat with HOAR.

Christina will not only be a comic relief in the Manchester-based program (she even knows karate!) but will also give an insight on Daisy’s past amid her crazy wedding planning.

“She presents as very together, comfortable in her own skin, a confident, glamorous young woman. We discover her past is slightly sadder than that”, Iain explained.

While her past won’t involve anything “hugely tragic or traumatic”, viewers can expect “loads of pathos” and to feel sorry for the fan favourite.

“It’s going to be an important story and one you don’t generally see on television, and will be a long runner”, the executive producer added.

Iain then recalled how stage legend Amy Robbins was picked for the role.

“The moment I clapped eyes on Amy’s audition tape
it was just her, I’d never known it quite so resounding as that.”

Daisy Midgeley recently went through a cancer scare before her other half decided to propose to her during the festive season.

Fans then began to suspect she’d be embroiled in a horrific stalker storyline as her presence on social media began to grow.

But what sort of trouble will her mother bring her?

Will they be able to get along?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
