The truth about Joseph Brown's illness has been revealed in Coronation Street – and it's all Gemma Winter's fault.

Gemma's Mistake

The schoolboy has been complaining of feeling sick for months with Gemma rushing him to hospital earlier in the month. At the time doctors said he was just suffering from a mild cold and brushed Gemma off. The second time she took him in the doctors took Chesney aside and warned him about Gemma's behaviour.

A Shocking Discovery

In tonight's episode Joseph was visibly sick in front of Gemma and Chesney and they called for help before being told to take him to hospital. And it was in the hospital that tests revealed Joseph had been poisoned.

Gemma's Mistake

It was quickly revealed that Gemma had made a mistake giving Joseph some lavender-infused tea – instead making it with a lavender essential oil instead of the tea bags. While Chesney brushed it off and insisted Gemma would never hurt Joseph on purpose, she beat herself up about making another mistake. Especially when she brought up how she allowed Bertie Osbourne to eat a packet of pills when she fell asleep babysitting him.

Social Services Involved

But as Gemma and Chesney sat next to a sleeping Joseph's bedside discussing what to have for dinner the next day, outside the room it was revealed the doctor had alerted social services. The child protection worker asked for dates and times of all the incidents, and things aren't looking good for Gemma and Chesney. Fans are very worried for them.

One wrote: "Everything's going to be alright chesney says, oh yeah until the social come tomorrow."

A second said: "Here come Social Services and there goes young Joseph and the quads into care."

Another added: "Gemma will be doing porridge tomorrow. No Christmas dinner for her."
