CORONATION Street fans were left in tears this week when legendary character Norris Cole died.

But we can reveal how this week, the shopkeeper has left a message from beyond the grave that will spark a furious clash at his funeral.

The busybody newsagent died of a stroke after actor Malcolm Hebden decided to retire from the soap.

In scenes coming up this week, viewers will see his nearest and dearest gather to pay their last respects to him at his funeral.

But a clash breaks out when an embarassing secret about Rita is revealed – much to Audrey’s chargrin.

It all happens when Roy is reading out Norris’ final message to his friends.

Norris reflects on his life, and makes reference to his relationship with best friend Rita, although he implies that they never “took the final leap” in said relationship, which leaves Rita horrified.

But as the message concludes, Roy reads out Norris’ final secret.

It turns out that Rita used to get her hair coloured at Claudia Colby’s salon – which leaves local hairdresser Audrey Roberts fuming.

She gets up and shouts over to Rita: “Claudia! I didn’t expect that from you!”

Audrey then adds: “Well thank you for ruining my day!”

It comes after fans were left in tears on Wednesday night’s episode which it was revealed that Norris had died.

It came after he reached out to his old friends on the cobbles to reconnect.

Ken and Rita then phoned Norris to invite him to visit them – but the phone was answered by a paramedic.

The pensioners then grabbed Mary and raced to the hospital to see their ailing friend.

However once they got there it was tragic news.

Local hairdresser Audrey is left fuming at this revelation

Freda told them: “Norris passed away a short while ago.

“I just can’t take it in,” sobbed Rita as Ken wittered on about “the fragility of life”.

Freda explained Norris collapsed holding his telephoto lens trying to catch Claudia Colby having an affair with the retirement home’s chairman Charles.

Rita joked: “I’ll tell you what. He went doing what he enjoyed doing best – snooping and gossiping.”

In a more emotional moment, Rita later said in the pub: “I’m just sad because I’ve lost one of the best friends in my life.”
