Celebrating Love: Soap Icon Charlie Lawson Marries Longtime Fiancé Debbie Stanley
Coronation Street legend, Charlie Lawson, known for his iconic role as Jim McDonald, has said "I do" to his longtime partner, Debbie Stanley, in a lavish ceremony surrounded by soap stars.
A Star-Studded Event
The couple exchanged vows at the stunning Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa in Cheshire. The ceremony was officiated by a close friend of Charlie, and attended by familiar faces from the world of soap, including Janice Battersby star Vicky Entwistle and Carla Connor actress Alison King.
Also in attendance were Emmerdale stalwart couple The Speakman's, who are famous for their appearances on This Morning.
A Storybook Romance
Charlie and Debbie have been together for an impressive 22 years. Though they officially became man and wife in Macclesfield weeks before their ceremony at the hotel, the couple wanted to celebrate their love with close friends and family.
To make a grand entrance, the Northern Irishman arrived at the hotel in a helicopter. Reflecting on the delayed second ceremony, Charlie said, “Getting actors together is like herding cats…When we were preparing to fly in the helicopter, I was fed up with waiting – it couldn't happen quick enough for me."
A Tearful Moment
Despite his no-nonsense personality, Charlie couldn't help but show his softer side as his bride made her way down the aisle. He confessed, "When you've been in love with someone for so long – 22 years – there's still that excitement of waiting to see her, and Debbie looked extraordinary and very beautiful. It was a wonderful moment when she walked down the aisle. I shed a tear."
Charlie and Debbie's wedding was a memorable day filled with love, laughter, and the company of soap stars, making it a ceremony to remember.
