An Australian bush fire adds further drama to proceedings

Now, Danny’s first acting role since leaving Walford is coming to Channel 5.

Heat unfolds to the backdrop of the looming Australian bushfire season when two families who are long-time friends, venture to a secluded home for a summer vacation.

As secrets and lies unravel it becomes a tinderbox – and not everyone will make it out alive.

The trailer sees Danny’s character and his family arrive at his friends impressive, huge modern home.

While they’re seen toasting “friendship” one minute, the next sees Danny catch his wife and friend in what appears to be a compromising moment.

His friend is heard saying: “Whatever you think you saw, you’re mistaken mate.”

But then things take an explosive turn as the bush catches fire around them, leaving the characters scrambling to locate each other and make it out alive.

The drama will play out across four episodes and sees Danny star alongside Neighbours actor Richie Morris, Olympia Valance, Darren McMullen, Jane Allsop and Pia Miranda.

Heat is the second drama collaboration between Channel 5, Network 10 and Fremantle Australia following the release of Riptide, which aired in December 2022.

The four-part series was ordered by Channel 5’s Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor of Factual Entertainment and Unscripted for Channel 5 and Paramount+, who also commissioned 2021’s Lie With Me, one of Channel 5’s highest rated dramas.

Lives are at stake in the four-part drama

Heat begins on Tuesday, July 11 at 9pm on Channel 5.
