Additionally, Franklin was an accomplished stage actor and appeared in popular British TV programs like Crossroads and Emmerdale.

Aside from his acting career, Franklin was also a writer. He published a book titled "Forest Wisdom: Radical Reform of Democracy and the Welfare State" and wrote novels set in the Whoniverse.
