Callum Highway discovered it was Ian Beale who called the police and betrayed his boyfriend Ben Mitchell in tonight’s EastEnders

As Callum (Tony Clay) – a police constable – listens to the call, he realises it was Ian Beale that made the damning phone call, betraying his own half-brother, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden).

The debt-ridden businessman – who is played by actor Adam Woodyatt in the BBC soap – had overheard Ben discussing the heist in the Queen Vic – and asked to be part of it to get a quick payday.

When Ben turned him down because Ian had scammed their mum out of money to buy the Queen Vic, the older brother took revenge by dobbing him into the police.

But now, Callum is in a really difficult position because if he tells Ben about Ian’s bertrayal, his boyfriend is likely to go off the deep end and kill him.

Callum also can’t tell Ben, because he is under the pump from DI Thompson to deliver the dirt on Ben’s dad, Phil Mitchell, who the corrupt copper wants to put behind bars.

Callum is already in hot water after the dodgy DI guessed correctly that he let Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) get away from the robbery.

Thompson’s threatened Callum that if he doesn’t get enough evidence on Phil, he will implicate Ben in the failed robbery attempt.

Eastenders viewers were left heartbroken at the difficult position Callum found himself in.

Callum can’t tell Ben what he knows

One shocked fan wrote: “OMG Callum knows but will he actually tell Ben though?”

Another added: “Hate Callum being under so much pressure.”

A third said: “If looks could kill. Callum and his evils. You are in trouble Ian.”

And a fourth commented: “Callum has unearthed the mystery caller. But will he tell the truth to Ben and Phill that it was Ian who grassed them up for the crime.”
