EASTENDERS fans were delighted this evening as the show payed the tribute to the Queen.

The BBC soap included a last minute scene showing Linda, Denise and Kathy discussing the late Queen Elizabeth II in the Queen Vic.

Kathy and Denise share their memories

Denise lamented:  “She has been there our whole lives, it’s like she’s everything we have ever known.”

Kathy continued: “It just feels so personal, just devastating, it’s like we have lost our nan.”

Linda, who is known for loving the royals, then interjects:  “We have, we have all lost our nan. She dedicated her entire life to serving us.”

The trio then continued to discuss their memories of her – with Kathy saying she was just three during the coronation.

They remembered the recent visit from Charles and Camilla, pointing out it is now King Charles.

The pair appeared in an episode to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee earlier this year.

The scene ended with Linda saying she was planning on paying her respects at Buckingham Palace, and Denise decided to go with her.

They then played her picture next to the famous Queen Victoria bust on the bar.

Linda added: “Thank you Ma’am, from us all.”

Those watching at home loved the scene and took to Twitter to comment on it.

One person wrote: “Can always rely on #EastEnders for a last minute reference to current news. That tribute to the Queen was beautiful.”

A second added: “Beautiful tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on #Eastenders tonight.”

While a third commented: “can we just say well done to the writers of #eastenders this scene between linda, kathy and denise is the most beautiful tribute to the queen. they always deal with things like this in the most incredible way.”

Her Majesty died peacefully at the age of 96 on Thursday, with her family by her side.
