MORE than a decade has gone by since Heather Trott was last seen in the Square and many fans are still not over her shock exit.

In a recent Instagram comment, former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison hit out at the BBC for a surprising reason.

A fan favorite's demise

Regular BBC One viewers will remember how Heather Trott was bludgeoned to death by troublemaking Ben Mitchell in 2012, leaving them in tatters as the character was a fan favourite.

A change of career

Since then, the actress who portrayed her has had a complete career U-turn as Cheryl Fergison moved on to offering singing lessons to her students via Zoom for £60.

An unexpected outburst

But in an unexpected outburst, the 58-year-old struck out against the BBC with a brutal message.

“And I wasn’t invited because? Oh, Enders and team, thanks for the memories!”, Cheryl angrily penned in her comment which was then posted as a screenshot on X by one of her fans.

What's the beef?

“Ar Hev aka Cheryl Fergison trying to cause beef with EastEnders cast members on Christmas Day”, the fan wrote as a caption without ever giving out details on the post Cheryl commented or on what the actress was really referring.

This prompted many fans to respond in the comment section and a handful of them were asking for more details.

Getting to the bottom of it

The poster replied to the many interrogations by indicating that Cheryl could be disappointed to not have been a part of Get Britain Singing's recent Christmas instalment, aired on ITV on Sunday (December 24, 2023).

“She’s fuming she didn’t get asked to do the singing show that was on last night”, the fan theorised.

“I’m obsessed with this, can imagine her telling her friends to boycott Eastenders in protest”, another commented, curious to know more about Cheryl’s exact thoughts.

Left out?

Many soap stars, from Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher, Vinta Morgan and Claire Sweeney to EastEnders’ Heather Peace and Emma Barton were asked to Get Britain Singing on ITV but could Cheryl really be frustrated to not have been asked to take part?

Cheryl had already wowed TV viewers in 2013 when she sang on ITV’s Your Face Sounds Familiar – why wasn’t she allowed to do the same more recently?

Speculation and social media frenzy

Speculation will remain rife on social media as multiple soap fans and X users are convinced Cheryl has been feeling left out – and it could all stem from her 2012 exit.

Despite her strong popularity, "Hev" was killed off as Ben Mitchell picked up a photo frame and hit her over the head.

Cheryl never chose to leave the program herself as the decision was made by EastEnders executives.

Life after EastEnders

Following her departure, Cheryl revealed how hard it was for her to find a new acting job following her stint in soap land and began broadcasting her new venture, singing lessons, on TikTok.

She has also been helping aspiring actors kick off their careers.

Will she return?

But will she ever be back in the limelight?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
