Soap Star's Surprising Mix-Up

EastEnders actor Brian Conley recently revealed that he was once mistaken for Hollywood heartthrob George Clooney. The 62-year-old star, known for his role as Tom "Rocky" Cotton in the popular soap, shared the amusing anecdote about the mix-up.

Joking About the Comparison

When asked about being hailed as a heartthrob by EastEnders fans, Conley humbly responded, "I wouldn't say that! Although there was an advert on TV not long ago and my friend said to me, 'I thought it was you but it was George Clooney.' I could be his body double, but I don't think my wife would agree."

Brushing Shoulders with Hollywood

Although Conley hasn't met George Clooney, he did have the opportunity to meet other Hollywood stars during his time in a West End musical production. He shared, "No, but I met Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman when they were in London. They came to see me when I was in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the West End. I couldn't believe it when the company manager said, 'Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman would love to meet you afterwards.' It was a wonderful honor for them to pop backstage."

A Successful Career

Brian Conley has had a successful acting career of his own, winning a National Television Award in 1995 for Most Popular Comedy Performer. He was also nominated for an Olivier Award in 1996 for his role in the production of Jolson. The actor and comedy legend has been a staple of the showbiz industry for decades.
