EASTENDERS star Max Bowden was crying tears of joy today as he found out his nan was among the first people getting a coronavirus vaccine today.

The 25-year-old actor, who plays Ben Mitchell in the soap, said he “can’t wait” to give his nan a cuddle after months of keeping his distance.

“Tears of joy this morning,” he tweeted.

“My nan gets her covid vaccine today. I can’t wait to cuddle her.”

Fans rushed to comment on Max’s good news, with one tweeting: “Bless ya nothing like a nana’s cuddle.”

Another added: “Anyone who follows you is aware of what a massive relief that is for you and your family. So pleased”

He shared his joy with fans on Twitter

Hundreds of OAPs and NHS staff started to receive the vaccine yesterday on what is being dubbed V-Day after the UK became the first country in the world to start using the Pfizer vaccine after regulators approved its use last week.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the start of the roll out of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine meant there was “finally” a “way through” the coronavirus crisis.

The vaccine will be a relief for the young actor and his family as back in October Max was left heartbroken after his beloved grandfather died of cancer.

He posted a picture of him holding his granddad’s hand on Instagram, revealing he sadly died.

“In his last weeks he was overwhelmed by the amazing love and care the @macmillancancer nurses provided him with.

“For that reason I am reposting my longest day challenge website in the hope of raising more money for them. Please give generously if you can. Thank you.”
