ACTOR Karl Davies has revealed the shocking moment he was slapped in a supermarket by a furious fan.

The 40-year-old told ITV’s Lorraine about the nasty incident during his time on Emmerdale.

Karl Davies appeared on Lorraine today after Happy Valley’s finale

He played bad boy Robert Sugden in Emmerdale back in 2001

Before his recent stint in Happy Valley, Karl played controversial character Robert Sugden in the soap from 2001.

Explaining he’d experienced meeting an Emmerdale fan who was angry about his character’s on-screen antics, Karl said: “I got a slap off a lady in Marks and Spencers.

“I know, of all places.”

“It was because my character wasn’t very nice.

“I was relieved to be playing a a nice guy in Happy Valley.”

Karl starred in Emmerdale until 2004 before making a brief reappearance in 2009.

He’s best known recently for playing fan favourite Catherine Cawood’s son Daniel.

Before last night’s show aired, viewers were convinced Tommy Lee Royce would try to kill Catherine and other members of her family – including Daniel.

A trailer showed Tommy standing over someone with his face splattered with blood after a vicious attack.

Viewers had feared his victim could have been Catherine, but it was a local gangster who met their end after initially pretending to rescue Tommy, before turning up to execute him.
