Emmerdale fans 'sickened' as Eric Pollard left for dead Mackenzie Boyd after 35 years on soap

SAM Dingle has been terrified Eric Pollard could cause him a lot of trouble with the police.

Little does he know the Emmerdale veteran has another shocking plan in mind.

Eric Pollard plans to get revenge

He caught Sam Dingle stealing from David’s shop

But he was then left fighting for his life

Determined to be involved in his granddaughter Esther’s life, Sam Dingle (played by James Hooton) wanted to help Amelia Spencer out financially.

But when he realised he would struggle to make ends meet himself, he asked his half-brother Cain to give Amelia’s father Dan Spencer a raise – which the owner of Barton and Dingle automotives refused.

Sam thus resorted to extreme measures in an attempt to help Amelia and stole baby items from David’s shop, then looked after by Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).

When Pollard realised what Sam was up to, he chased him down the village streets, only for him to fall and be left fighting for his life.

In scenes due to air next week on ITV, Sam and his wife Lydia (Karen Blick) are informed by Pollard that he would not be making a statement to the police.

The news comes as a huge relief for Sam who initially thought his struggling family would also have to pay his legal fees.

But Pollard has another trick up his sleeve to make Sam pay.

The farmhand is concerned when he’s told that, in order to pay off his dues, he will have to work for Pollard unpaid.

Will Sam accept for the sake of his criminal record?

This wouldn’t be the first time Sam has to work for Pollard.

In 1995, and as diehard fans of the Yorkshire-based drama will perhaps remember, Pollard employed him to do odd jobs for him, which kept Sam away from the crime scene.

Sam has also been employed as a gatekeeper at Home Farm Estate but tensions was recently brimming in the household.

Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) became convinced that both Sam and Lydia were stealing from him, but he was set back in his place by Nicky the nanny.

To make matters worse, Sam’s son Samson has been trying to extort money from his own cousin, Noah Dingle.

Noah has grown increasingly afraid of Samson taking Amelia and baby Esther away from him.

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
