HOLLYOAKS fans were in hysterics as James Nightingale was arrested by his real life wife on yesterday’s episode.
Gregory has played James Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap since 2016, and in September 2019 his wife Ariana Fraval joined the cast as DS Naomi Cohen.
The lawyer found out the truth about Fergus Collins’ illegal surveillance stream, where men paid him to watch Peri, Juliet and Maxine in their bedrooms without the women knowing.
He vowed to become a better ally for half-sister Juliet and other women in the village.
James hired a private investigator to find Timmy’s whereabouts – unaware that Fergus has murdered him.
As James was sharing the news with Peri and Juliet, they caught a creepy man taking photos of them.
The creepy newcomer, Mikey, then crudely quipped that it wasn’t their “first time in front of a camera”.
He said: “People on the dark web pay good money to see you two. Or, they did until the live feed went down.”
The shocked women were disgusted to discover that they had been filmed without their knowledge – leading James to take action.
James soon realised that Mikey is the son of the head of the law firm he was trying to merge with.
James threatened Mikey, but the newcomer hit back saying he would put James’ merger in jeopardy.
Mikey then snarled that Peri and Juliet “loved every minute of” being watched, as James furiously lashed out and attacked him.
Later on, James was arrested by DS Cohen, played by actor Gregory real-life wife Anna.
Channel 4 viewers were shocked to discover that the pair are married off-screen.
One wrote: “James getting arrested by his real life wife is amazing.”
Another posted: “Arrested by your off screen wife. Awkward.”
A third person posted: “OMG, I didn’t know James and DS Cohen are married in real-life.”
Gregory and Ariana tied the knot back in 2011, and they’re now proud parents to three sons.
The couple celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary earlier this year with a series of throwback photos from their special day.
She captioned the post: “Happy 9th wedding anniversary to my one and only.”
Ariana, who lives with her family on the Wirral Peninsula, has also starred in Suzie Gold and Me Without You.
