WHILE the characters of Coronation Street and EastEnders live in modest homes which haven’t been updated in years, the real life actors’ houses are a world away.
From Maisie Smith’s Essex home by the sea to Jack P Shepherd‘s flashy Manchester pad, the soaps stars have enviable abodes – while the soap characters interior design tends to a bit more er, bog-standard.
In some cases, this means making them incredibly garish – the Platts’ home, for example, looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 1950s when Gail moved in.
Meanwhile, Lacey Turner’s home boasts its own wet room with a stand-alone bath tub but at least 11 members of the Slaters and Butchers family have been squeezed into their terraced house in Walford.
From Corrie’s Tyrone Dobbs to Hollyoaks Nancy Hayton, we’ve taken a look at how the real life homes compare to the soap houses.
Coronation Street
David Platt vs Jack P Shepherd
IT has been a mystery for as long as the Platt’s have existed on Coronation Street – where do all the members of the family actually sleep in the tiny house?
Sarah Platt actress Tina O’Brien once told HOAR “I think at night time it’s one of those camper vans and there’s something in the roof that just stretches up and people get in.”
But actor Jack P Shepherd doesn’t have to squabble over space in real life as he shares a stunning Manchester home with girlfriend Hanni Treweek.
The master bedroom is all-grey – from the bed sheets to the wall – with a wooden floor and best of all is the big mirror, that’s perfect for taking great selfies.
Meanwhile, fans got a glimpse of their incredibly spacious garden recently, which boasts potted plants and a wooden fence for privacy.
It also includes a lush set of table and chairs should the pair want to relax outside, or for when they host guests.
Tyrone Dobbs vs. Alan Halsall
Having been on the cobbles for nearly 22 years, Tyrone has a decent little home with partner Fiz.
The kitchen, dining room and living room exist in the same space, with bold blue floral wallpaper showing the separation.
Sinead Tinker vs. Katie McGlynn
Sinead may have sadly passed away, but while she was on Coronation Street she lived with husband Daniel Osborne in a house.
The living room boasted lime green walls, while the bedroom has old fashioned floral walls.
Katie, on the other hand, has a modern flat, with toned down grey-and-white walls, a marble table and L-shaped sofa.
Ellie Leach vs. Faye Windass
Ellie Leach’s home is a far cry from Faye Windass’.
The actress herself lives in her family home: a sleek silver affair, with a huge fireplace, grey sofas and silver aesthetic.
Most of the Windass’s have modern homes in Corrie and Faye is no exception. With a white tiled island in the kitchen, toned down grey wallpaper, it’s characterised mainly by the excessive decorations.
EastEnders
Tiffany Butcher vs Maisie Smith
Tiffany Butcher lives with the Slaters on Albert Square and fans have often been baffled by how many people appear to reside in the home – with some counting up to 13. EastEnders’ actress Maisie boasts a lot more space per person and gave fans a tour of her home in BBC show Yung Filly’s Celeb Lock-In back in August. The star’s lookalike mum Julia and her dad Stephen, sister Scarlett, and the family dog regularly feature in Maisie’s videos that she takes at home – with the Smiths living close to the sea in Westcliff, Essex. The flame-haired beauty has covered every inch of her walls and ceiling with posters, ‘fragile’ stickers, and personal polaroid photographs.
Picking up her glass of fizz, Maisie said: “And this is our roof terrace, where we like to get a little bevvy!”
Maisie and her lookalike mum Julia opened the doors to their gorgeous seaside townhouse, with Maisie showing off the living room where the pair perform her hit TikTok dance routines. The shelves were brimming with books, records and bottles of booze, with a drinks cabinet in one corner and a leather armchair in the other. But Maisie told fans the monochrome bathroom with its tiled walls and plants was her favourite space in the house, and also said she loves the view over the ocean from the master bedroom.
Lucy Benjamin vs. Lisa Fowler
While Lisa Fowler’s home is pretty big for an East London gaff, it is much more toned down than Lucy Benjamin’s modern house. The character has a simple set – in keeping with EastEnders’ more dower tone – with the living room giving a bit of colour with a lime green sofa and neutral brown walls.
Lucy’s home is sleek and modern, with a huge kitchen and a metallic colour scheme.
Lacey Turner vs. Stacey Slater
Stacey Slater’s home is another big contrast from her real life counterpart. In the soap, it’s all old-fashioned homeliness, with a simple wooden kitchen, orange walls in the living room and a few choice photos.
Lacey, though, has a huge modern kitchen, with beautiful modern lights hanging over the work surfaces. Throughout there are big mirrors, floral statement wallpaper and a good sized garden.
James Bye vs. Martin Fowler
Emmerdale
Zoe Henry & Jeff Hordley vs. Cain Dingle and Rhona Goskirk
Hollyoaks
Nikki Sanderson vs. Maxine Minniver
Adam Rickitt vs. Kyle Kelly & Jessica Fox vs. Nancy Hayton
