CORONATION Street is set to lose its Rovers Return as Jenny Connor is forced into a devastating decision.

The Weatherfield boozer has been around for as long as the cobbles themselves but after 63 years it looks set to say goodbye.

Coronation Street’s Rovers Return could be sold – marking an end of an era

Landlord Jenny is being forced to sell up

Landlady Jenny Connor has tried her best but after the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis, she can’t keep the doors open for much longer.

After opening up to her staff about the situation they all rallied round to put on a night to impress the brewery and convince them to buy the pub back.

The deal would have made the Rovers financially viable.

However when Phillip and son Henry arrived tonight things didn’t go to plan.

And with Jenny desperate, she laid everything on the table to try and convince them to save the pub.

But Henry didn’t have good news for her.

He told Jenny as gently as he could that the accountants had run the numbers and the pub just wasn’t financially viable as it is.

And worst still he said the only thing she could do would be to sell it to property developers to be turned into flats.

Handing over a number for a developer, Henry left Jenny bitterly disappointed and heartbroken about what she would have to do.

And despite her staff trying to pep her up, Jenny didn’t have any backup plans.

Picking up the phone she dialled and said: “Hi, this is Jenny Connor of the Rovers Return pub Coronation Street. Could someone please give me a ring first thing on this number thanks. Bye.”

Walking over to the door, she locked up and then turned to the framed picture of Rovers legend Betty Turpin.

“I’m sorry Betty,” she said before turning out the lights and heading to bed.

Fans are devastated about the impending closure.

One wrote: “Save The Rovers, at all costs!”

A second said: “Noooo I want Jenny to get The Rovers back up and running to it’s full potential again. She’s a great landlady!!”

Another added: “Surely they aren’t going to close the Rovers!? It would be sacrilege!”
