THERE will be shock on the Coronation Street cobbles this winter when Nina Lucas takes a terrifying plunge.
In new scenes on the ITV soap, Nina, played by Dancing on Ice star Mollie Gallagher, finds herself in deep waters after a horror fall.
Nina and Roy experience difficulties
Roy will be forced to make a lifestyle change as a result
Roy arranges to meet his niece along with Asha and Brian for the bat group meeting in the woods late one evening.
Roy tells the trio he will drop Evelyn off at a friend’s house and then will meet them in the woods when he is finished.
However, as Brian and Nina receive a message to say that tonight’s group is cancelled, they realise they have no way of informing Roy of the change as he does not have a mobile phone due to his resistance to modern technology.
Roy arrives at the woods believing the meeting to still be going ahead with his thermos in tow.
He drops it in the river as the other three decide they must head to the woods to find Roy.
They spot his car and soon head off to look for him by the river where Nina spots his dropped thermos.
She is shocked when she sees it and fears the worst.
As she heads down the bank, she has trouble with her feet and slips, bangs her head and rolls down the bank and into the river.
As Asha and Nina watch on in horror, Brian quickly runs down to the banking where he attempts to rescue a limp Nina from the water’s edge.
Managing to free her from the freezing cold liquid, Asha phones for an ambulance.
With Nina in hospital, Roy discovers her trauma and is left devastated.
He blames himself profusely for endangering her life.
Upon chatting to Sam at the cafe about the importance of smartphones, Roy makes the digital plunge and heads off into town to buy a new device.
But when Asha and Nina give him a lesson on how to use it, Roy is left bewildered.
Has Roy done the right thing?
