Another Walford resident Bobby Brazier is also in the frame

And now it seems he may be head to head with another Walford resident as one of the show’s former actresses has also been ‘singled out’, according to reports.

The Mirror claims that Priya Davdra, who played Albert Square’s first Muslim lesbian Iqra Ahmed, has caught the eye of show bosses.

A source told the publication: “Priya was singled out as a target for the casting team early in the process and they were keen. She is young, glamorous and would be a great fit for the show.”

The 36 year old starred on the BBC1 soap for three years and left in 2022.

If she and Bobby both make the final cut, they will face off against each other on Britain’s most famous dancefloor.

A show source said: “Bobby is the dream signing for Strictly — he’s a young heart-throb who comes with a huge fanbase.

“He also has a very personal backstory and there’s so much love out there for Jade.

“There’s a few last-minute details to sort but the talks are in final stages.”

Bobby, born to Jade and TV star Jeff Brazier, first started work as a model but has since turned to acting.

Jade shot to fame on Big Brother in 2002 and died of cervical cancer in 2009.

Reflecting on how she would view his soap career, Bobby said she would be “so proud.”

He added: “Dad’s just happy I’m earning and paying rent.”
