ITV’s The Hunt For Raoul Moat continued tonight with the second episode of the true crime drama.

The three-part mini-series is based on the real life 2010 manhunt in the northeast of England during which Moat, recently out of prison, shot ex-girlfriend Samantha Stobbart and her new partner, Chris Brown, who died as a result.

The former doorman, who had been in jail for assaulting a nine-year-old child, then went on the run after the violent incident and left a trail of more violence, tragedy and crime behind him.

Tonight’s episode picked up on Moat continuing to evade capture, and the police stepping up their manhunt.

As the detectives and senior officers in charge got together to discuss their next move, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a Coronation Street legend.

Actor Bill Ward, who played evil Charlie Stubbs on the ITV soap, was seen playing one of the leading officers.

His character could be seen organising the police’s next move, in their bid to capture Moat.

Bill’s appearance didn’t go unnoticed by some eagle-eyed fans, with one tweeting: “Is that Charlie from Corrie who Tracey killed?”

This one commented: “I recognise that police man – it’s Charlie from Coronation Street!”

Bill played evil builder Charlie Strubbs in Corrie from 2003 until 2007.

After tormenting the women of Weatherfield for several years, he was eventually bumped off by Tracey Barlow after she found out he had an affair with Maria.

Away from Corrie, Bill has also starred in Emmerdale and Netflix’s After Life.

ITV’s The Hunt For Raoul Moat concludes on ITV tomorrow night at 9pm.
