PlayStation gamers are in a frenzy as they discover the open-world game Lake, which players suggest is the perfect game to play over the Christmas break, and it's available for less than £10.

The game, described as "strangely captivating," has received rave reviews on the offers site HotUKDeals and has a rating of 70/100 on Metacritic.

"This is strangely one of my favorite games," one player wrote on HotUKDeals

Released in 2021, Lake is a slow-paced indie adventure game that players have quickly fallen in love with and can't stop thinking about.

Available for PlayStation 5 consoles, Lake, rated PEGI 16, is currently priced at £9.95 on The Game Collection.

Set in 1986, the game follows the story of Meredith Weiss, a software developer who temporarily becomes the town's mail carrier while visiting her hometown in Oregon.

"This is strangely one of my favorite games," one player wrote on HotUKDeals.

"Quirky, slightly cheesy, and small. But strangely captivating and relaxing with a 'pleasant' storyline. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

"I wish I had a PS5 for this and the new DLC."

Another player said, "I absolutely loved this game, so much so that I bought it for every available platform.

"I'm saving the DLC for Christmas, and I'm so excited!"

A third player added, "I completed it on Xbox through Game Pass, and for some reason, it left a lasting impression on me.

"I can't quite explain the feeling, but it's like 'I wouldn't mind escaping to a place like that for a simple day-to-day life'."

A fourth player said they "felt exactly the same" and commented that the sweet feeling of playing Lake "stayed with them for a long time."

However, as with any game, not everyone is a fan.

One gamer mentioned that they "enjoyed it for a while," but it "gets boring pretty quickly."
