POKÉMON is the biggest franchise in the world, and it’s no surprise that other companies have tried to replicate its success.

Monster collecting and battling games, like Cassette Beasts and Temtem, are everywhere these days.

Palworld mixes Pokémon, Monster Hunter, and armed combat.

‘Pokémon with guns’

However, few titles have made an impact on gamers as Palworld, a game that fans have dubbed ‘Pokémon with guns’.

While Palworld is packed with the cute creatures we’ve come to expect from Pokémon clones, it also comes with a twist.

Firstly, it opts for real-time combat, instead of the turn-based battles the Pokémon series is known for.

Secondly, it has a lot more firepower than Pokémon games, and we’re not just talking about Fire-type beasts.

You join in combat with the pals you make around the world, with the major difference being you’re packing a submachine gun.

So it’s Pokémon with guns. You have a gun, and your pals can have their own arsenal and drive around in little tanks.

Free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers

Ever since it was first announced, fans have been desperate to play Palworld for themselves, and soon they’ll be able to.

Palworld will launch on January 19, 2024, for Xbox, Windows PC, and via Steam.

However, it was recently revealed that people can dive in for free as Palworld will launch day one with Xbox Game Pass.

This means subscribers to the cheaper tier of Game Pass, either Xbox Game Pass for Console, or Xbox Game Pass for PC, will be able to play for free on the day it is released.

It will be first released in early access, and developer Pocketpair expects it to remain this way for at least a year.

Early access is used so that a team can receive feedback from players about the game, and then make adjustments accordingly.
