Free Games for PS Plus Subscribers in September 2023

PlayStation has announced three new games that will be available for free to PS Plus subscribers in September 2023. However, it seems that subscribers shouldn't get their hopes up too high.

All Subscribers Eligible

Regardless of the tier they are paying for, all players with an active PS Plus subscription will be able to claim these games. This includes Essential members, who only have this subscription perk to enjoy free games.

The Games

  • Saints Row (PS4 and PS5) – a reboot of the lighthearted crime action-adventure series released in 2022. Fan reviews have been mixed.
  • Black Desert – Traveler Edition (PS4) – an open-world fantasy MMORPG with average reviews. Subscribers will get additional in-game items with the Traveler Edition.
  • Generation Zero (PS4) – an open-world adventure set in an '80s alt-history Sweden. The game received poor reviews.

Limited Time Offer

Subscribers have until October 2, 2023, to add these games to their libraries at no additional cost.

Not Included In Higher Tiers

While these games are available to extra and premium subscribers, they are not part of the upper tiers' game catalogue. This means high-paying subscribers can also benefit from this month's offering and grab these titles.

Lackluster Games

Unfortunately, this month's free games are not the high-quality titles we have seen in previous months. Reviews for Saints Row and Generation Zero have been disappointing.

Previous Month's Games Still Up for Grabs

Subscribers still have the opportunity to claim the previous month's free games until September 4, 2023. These games will remain in their libraries as long as they have an active PS Plus subscription.

Overall, September's free games for PS Plus subscribers may not be the most exciting offerings. Add the news of the upcoming price increase, and it seems subscribers will have to weigh the value of their subscription.
