Save data problems have Xbox players concerned

Xbox players have been eagerly waiting to play the best game of 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3. Originally released for PC and PS5, Xbox players felt like they were missing out. But now, the game has finally arrived on Xbox consoles. However, there have been some issues with save data, leaving players frustrated and concerned.

Why the delay?

The reason for the delay in releasing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox was due to difficulties with local co-op play on the Xbox Series S. Xbox demands full parity between the Series X and Series S, so games cannot be released on one console without the other. Larian Studios, the game's developer, had to figure out how to make multiplayer work on both consoles, causing the delay.

Partial fix, but not fully resolved

While Xbox players can now purchase and play Baldur’s Gate 3, the save data issue has not been fully fixed. Many players have reported that the game doesn't always save properly, leading to lost progress. This is a significant problem considering the game's popularity and length, which can take hundreds of hours to complete.

What's being done to fix the error?

Larian Studios is aware of the issue and is working on a solution. They suggest enabling cross-save, which will upload save data to the cloud and provide an extra backup for players. However, it may take some time to fully resolve the error, as fewer staff members are available during the holiday period. As a result, it is recommended that Xbox players hold off on purchasing Baldur’s Gate 3 until the issue is resolved.
