Masked Dancer fans convinced Odd Socks is top UK rapper after clue hinting at TV past

THE Masked Dancer fans are convinced a top female rapper is behind the quirky Odd Socks character after a series of telling clues.

Previously, viewers were convinced the ITV contestant, who blasted out a routine in front of a Coin Laundry, was Big Brother legend Emma Willis.

Yet the tide of Twitter opinion has now turned, with The Masked Dancer viewers now believing Birmingham-born Lady Leshurr, 34, is behind the outfit.

The colourful character burst onto the ITV show on Saturday, with huge googling eyes and an outfit stitched with an array of socks.

They wowed The Masked Dancer fans and panel with a lively routine to What A Man Gotta Do, by the Jonas Brothers.

Show bosses teased: “These happy feet won’t be uncoordinated,” before posting on their social media: “They put their HEART and SOCK into that performance.”

They then teased: “Does anyone NOSE what this clue is about? ??.”

Other clues included: “Her feet have carried her in one big circle,” – which many believed to be pertinent, as another teaser revealed: “Turns up in lots of surprising places.”

This led one fan to write on Twitter: “Could Odd Socks be Lady Leshurr? She won the Celebrity Circle and is always popping up in random places – Olay advert, Dancing on Ice etc. #MaskedDancerUK.”

Another added: “Definitely Lady Leshurr. She was also on a talent show with Martin Kemp on BBC last year.”

A third then mused: “Astronaught – @SteveBackshall, odd socks – lady leshurr #MaskedDancerUK.”

One then concluded: “MaskedDancerUK #oddsocks is @LadyLeshurr ?.”

They then reeled off the reasons behind their thoughts, and added: “Multi talented, The Celebrity Circle 2021 winner, From the Midlands, Was a judge on a BBC talent show with Martin Kemp last year.”

Away from music, Lady Leshurr has indeed has appeared on Dancing on Ice and on The Celebrity Circle.

Her real name is Melesha Katrina O’Garro and in 2016, she won the MOBO Award, celebrating excellence in black music, for Best Female Act.

Then in 2019, she won the award for Best Rap/Grime Act at the Birmingham Music Awards, and received the British Empire Medal in the 2020 Birthday Honours.

She appeared on the 2020 version of Celebrity Masterchef.

Then in 2021 she made it to the semi-finals of Dancing On Ice.

In March 2021 she took part in Channel 4’s Celebrity Circle – winning the gameshow beating the likes of Blue’s Duncan James and Denise Van Outen.
