Could West End star Michael Ball be behind the feathery mask

Phoenix impressed the panel with their rendition of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky.

Many armchair sleuths were quick to piece together the clues after Sunday’s episode and think they’ve identified the distinctive voice as West End star Michael.

One wrote: “I think Phoenix is Michael Ball. He hinted at in his riddle that he has been a catchphrase – ‘having a ball’ just like his surname.

“I listened to some of his songs and his voice matches Phoenix in his first performance.

“Phoenix gives me strong Hedgehog vibes, and Michael Ball was a popular guess for him during season 1. So I’m confident to say, that Phoenix is Michael Ball.”

Another speculated: “Same, the first person on my mind when he sang was Michael Ball.”

A third echoed: “Phoenix reminds me of Hedgehog as well, I’m glad we have another contestant like him this series.”

So far, guesses from viewers include Doctor Who star David Tennant, Lucifer star Tom Ellis or Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson.

The first celebrity to be revealed was none other than Chris Kamara who was dressed as Ghost.

The bottom three acts were Cat and Mouse, Knitting and Ghost.

The former footballer and TV presenter is the first to be eliminated from this year’s Masked Singer.

Kammy, who is living with the condition apraxia of speech, took many fans by surprise, with actor Louis Emerick writing on Twitter: “Wow! Didn’t see that!!! Well in mate.”

Another viewer said: “Wow.. Ghost! Amazing reveal!! Did not think of him at all.”

A third commented: “Well i was completely wrong with Ghost.”

When Ghost first took to the stage to sing The Drifters’ Save The Last Dance For Me, viewers questioned if producers ran out of money before creating the character’s look.

It was very basic, comprising of a white sheet with large eyes and red boots.

One viewer said: “Obviously run out of budget when it got to ghosts costume.”

Another posted: “Whoever ghost is spent their costume budget on stuff other than the costume.”
