The 45 year old is now a health and fitness author after losing three stone by overhauling her lifestyle.

The Hollyoaks actress said her weight gain was down to chemicals in her food

Davinia struggled with hormones and stress levels amid an alcoholic addiction and being put on anti-depressants.

She was also diagnosed with ADHD.

But since transforming her life, Davinia is now a Sunday Times’ Best-Seller with her 2021 book It’s Not A Diet.

Her new book Hack Your Hormones helps to focus on weight loss, sleep and energy.

She’s also launched a new podcast called Davinia Taylor – Hack Your Health podcast.

Davinia appeared on This Morning today to reveal her hacks to a more focused, healthy lifestyle after undergoing her own transformation.

Taylor starred in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks from 1996 to 1998, playing party girl Jude Cunningham.

She recently showed off her astonishing body overhaul after losing three stone as she posed in a bikini.

Davinia, who quit booze in 2009, has revealed that she completely turned her life around following the heartbreaking death of her mother and went from a size 16 to a size eight.

Davinia, who reprised her role in Hollyoaks in 2016, claims that ‘counting chemicals’ instead of calories, allowed her to shed the weight.

During a previous interview on This Morning, Davinia, who is mum to four boys, said: “You don’t count calories, you’ve gotta count chemicals. What I’ve done over the years is… because I eat on depression…”

She added: “When I’m upset or stressed I reach for carbohydrates, and that’s a form of biohacking. But basically, you’re trying to hack into your hormones to boost your mood.”

And so in a bid to deal with the death of her mother, instead of turning to booze, which she quit 13 years ago, she relied on the comfort of carbohydrates and sugary food.

But she claims that her poor diet, which included vegetable oil or seed oil, was triggering her depression and making her gain weight.

Davinia explained that this process is called biohacking where you train your brain’s relationship with food to prevent over indulging.

She went on to say that she has changed her ‘gut microbiome’ and has become ‘metabolically flexible’, so she can now eat one slice of pizza instead of the whole thing.

When asked how people can follow the biohacking process she said: “You can do little things like cold showers that change your hormones. My mantra is: “feed the brain and the body will follow.”
