Matt Evers returned to the ITV programme in a shock move

The professional skater returned to the ITV programme for a guest appearance.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern welcomed the 47-year-old back to the ice.

However, it was revealed Matt was only back for a small role as he announced this year’s viewer competition.

Reacting to his return, one fan said: “Ah so lovely to see the amazing Matt Evers back on the ice again tonight as this week’s announcer for a massive £120,000 to one lucky viewer.”

A second said: “Aww lovely to see the lovely @TheMattEvers tonight, I do miss him this series Matt was brilliant on DOI.”

A third viewer said: “They got Matt to do that, oh my god!”

While a fourth commented: “I adore Matt Evers. It’s such a shame he isn’t on it!”

Matt announced he was leaving Dancing On Ice after 15 years last October in a shock statement.

He joined the show in 2004, made history when he became the first skater to be in a same-sex pairing with Steps singer Ian “H” Watkins in 2020.

His famous pairings also included TOWIE star Gemma Collins and EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer.

In a statement, he said: “I have some news to share. I knew this day would come at some point but I won’t be returning to Dancing on Ice this series.

“After 15 series of the show it was sadly time to hang up the skates for now. I have loved every minute of it (honestly!)

“I’ve had some incredible partners over the years and we have created some fantastic TV moments!

“I mean who can forget that fall from Gemma, or the wardrobe malfunction from Pamela!”

Fans were left delighted to see Matt back on screen
