This weekend, Greg issued an emotional update on his recovery as he posed with his daughter.

Now the long jump star has revealed the showcase routine he had planned to do – and the moment it all went wrong.

The dad of three uploaded a lengthy video to Instagram and candidly wrote: “Here we gooooo. This is the showcase we didn’t get the perform due to injury.

“The point where I dive through Colin and Brendyn’s legs is where everything went wrong last Sunday.”

It showed him in a white outfit sliding on his back along the ice before taking a prone position and shimmying through their legs a second time.

Greg, although not detailing the exact nature of his injury, has told of the impact on his stomach and how it now “hurts to laugh.”

So it suggests this particular posture could have been the cause.

He added: “This is from either Friday or Saturday so I was still ironing out a few timings issues (which I’m sure you will notice)

“I utterly loved this showcase. Everyone involved had worked so hard. Just look at the set too!! The guys behind the scenes never get enough credit, what they build in such a short amount of time is mind blowing.

“To have @torvillanddeanofficial choreograph a full routine for us too was so special. I loved working with them.

“Although I won’t be able to skate for maybe a couple of months. I intend on getting back on the ice and keeping it up. I really do love it.”

His two-minute video came after he admitted he “wasn’t fully prepared” for the show final.

He was forced out of Dancing On Ice due to the serious injury, only hours before the live show in a huge shake-up.

The ITV programme’s medic appeared on-screen to break the news that the star had sustained an injury from a “really bad accident” during rehearsals.

His professional skating partner Vanessa James then announced the news on social media, stating: “Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight.

At the time, she explained: “We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs.”

A spokesman for the ITV show then added: “Sadly Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE has had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after sustaining an injury whilst in rehearsals for the final episode of the current series.

“Greg and Vanessa have been such a popular couple this series and have performed some truly memorable routines.

“We will be helping to support Greg and wish him well with his recovery.”

They added: “We also want to thank him for being such a treasured member of the Dancing on Ice family.”
