A pal told the Mail: “Scarlette will be absolutely devastated. She knew Jonnie had not been well but had no indication he’s only got months to live.

“They’re good mates and have known each other for years, it’s just so sad. As soon as she’s out and is told, Scarlette will be straight on the phone to him.”

Jonnie revealed last night that he has terminal cancer that has spread to his brain.

He told Hello!: “I don’t know how long I have left, but I try to stay positive and my attitude is that I’m living with cancer, not dying from it.

“I set little markers – things I want to be around for. I got into the habit of saying: ‘Don’t plan ahead because I might not be well enough.’ But now I want to make plans.”

Scarlette, who quit A Place In HOAR earlier this year, was on the show with Jonnie for six years.

This month, she joined the I’m A Celeb jungle alongside the likes of Boy George, Matt Hancock and Charlene White.

Jonnie explained last night that he was initially diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and told he had six months to live.

The Channel 4 star and his wife Jessica share three-year-old son Rex and two-year-old twins, Rafa and Cormac.

As well as hosting A Place In HOAR he has also worked on the BBC’s Escape To the Country and To Buy Or Not To Buy Dream Lives For Sale.

He explained that he knew something was wrong with his health when he suffered blurred vision while driving in Italy.

His TV co-stars and friends have been paying tribute to Jonnie since his shock announcement.

Place in the Sun co-star Jasmine Harman wrote today: “Words can’t fix much, but what lovely words of support you have had here Jonnie.”

Danni Menzies called him “incredibly brave” adding: “A true inspiration to us all to cherish all the moments we can with the people we love.”
