Leeches Invade Camp After Weekend Downpour

As if the celebrities on I’m A Celebrity didn’t have enough to worry about, now they have to contend with an invasion of leeches. Sam Thompson and Nick Pickard are the latest victims of these blood-sucking critters, which have been brought into camp due to the heavy rain over the weekend.

Stay Vigilant: Celebrities Warned to Be on the Lookout

The camp has issued an urgent warning to all the celebrities, urging them to stay vigilant as they navigate their way around camp. The recent monster storms and blistering temperatures have created the perfect conditions for leeches to swarm the area.

A Big Issue: Leeches Pose Health Risks

While leeches typically fall off naturally after they’ve fed, there are concerns about the celebrities’ health. The camp has warned that the leeches’ entry sites can become infected, which could lead to further complications. It’s crucial for the celebrities to take extra care and be aware of any signs of weakness, tiredness, or hunger.

Snakes Add to the Camp’s Challenges

As if the leeches weren’t enough, the camp has also been dealing with an influx of snakes. The humid weather has attracted a variety of snake species, including pythons and venomous snakes. The camp’s Health and Safety Officer, Jeremy Douglas, has reported 15 snake sightings on the site.

Celebrities Unaware of Their Jungle Surroundings

Executive producer Laura Woolf expressed her frustration with the celebrities’ lack of awareness about living in a jungle. She revealed that they often leave food everywhere, attracting even more wildlife to the camp. It’s a constant challenge for the crew to manage the presence of snakes and other creatures.

Leeches and Other Creepy-Crawlies: A Common Jungle Experience

Former presenter Joe Swash once revealed that the jungle waterhole is infested with leeches. It seems that encounters with these bloodsuckers are not uncommon on the show. Previous contestants Kim Woodburn and Nicola McLean have also had their fair share of leech encounters in the past. In addition to leeches, giant earthworms have also been spotted on the jungle floor after heavy rain.
