Laura confirmed the show will return this summer

But during tonight’s finale, Laura confirmed the show would return – and invited viewers to apply to feature on the show.

The show will go back to its usual summer location of Majorca with the famous villa making a comeback.

This series of the show has been shot in South Africa to take advantage of the hot and sunny weather on the continent at this time of year.

In tonight’s finale Jess Gale and Ched Uzor came in fourth place while Luke Mabbott and Demi Jones were voted in third place.

Tonight’s finale was dedicated to late presenter Caroline Flack.

Laura Whitmore paid tribute to Caroline during the live episode.

She said that the death of the former host of the show had been “hard to come to terms with”, adding: “We’re thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time.

“Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love, and that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.”

A series of clips from Flack’s time hosting Love Island and companion show Aftersun was shown.
