LOVE Island star Alexandra Cane has opened up on the debilitating effects of bloating, as she shared before and after pictures of how diet can affect her body.

The 28-year-old lost a stunning two stone to help her combat anxiety and focus on her mental health, but the reality star has admitted that her body now rejects certain foods and showed pictures to prove it.

Alexandra said these two pictures were taken 8 hours apart

“So I’ve suffered with bloating for many years on and off. Initially, when I first got diagnosed with IBS I was given Buscopan & told to see how I get on,” she told fans.

“I refused to take them. I wasn’t satisfied with the response I got and decided to get to the root of the problem. I did this through looking at what I was consuming.”

“WE ARE WHAT WE EAT,” she added, claiming that she was able to get “rid of my IBS at one stage through eating super nutritious foods etc”.

She said that “more recently, my bloating has made an appearance again so I wanted to touch on something new”, alleging that refined sugars, starchy carbs and artificial sweeteners cause her body to swell.

Alexandra also shared that the bloating has a “massive effect” on her mental health, leaving her feeling “heavy, lethargic, have brain fog, don’t want to exercise cause I’m in pain/discomfort, don’t fit in my clothes well”.

The model found fame on the 2018 series of Love Island, and was praised for being one of the curvier islanders.

She told HOAR she now “doesn’t recognise herself” after her two stone weight less – however, her weight loss hasn’t come without its challenges as she was forced to deny having secret liposuction surgery after cruel trolls accused her of faking her weight loss.

Others judged her for changing her image to look like her “skinny” co-stars from the 2018 ITV2 series.

In an exclusive interview with HOAR Online, Alexandra has hit back at criticism and says she feels “proud” of herself every day for turning her life around.

“I can understand why people thought that about my transformation, but now I feel as fit as a fiddle,” said Alexandra.

“I never did this to lose weight or look a certain way. I’ve always believed that you should strive for self-acceptance, whatever weight you are.

“In Love Island I thought I was healthy, but I look back now and think I couldn’t even walk up a hill without getting out of breath.”

She said: “Now I’m so full of energy and I don’t have brain fog. I’m hydrated and full of life.

“When I compare myself from then and now, the way I feel inside is like a whole new woman.”
