LOVE Island’s Olivia Hawkins has added fuel to the rumours she was a producer plant by revealing her secret connections to the show.
The 27-year-old appeared on the ITV2 programme last month and has now revealed she actually first applied back in 2018, and met producers the following year while doing promo for the show.
Olivia opened up to Toby about how she got on the show
Olivia said she first applied for the show back in 2018
Speaking on Toby Aromolaran’s podcast Fancy A Chat, she explained: “I applied back in 2018 and literally had like one interview and then years later they contacted me again.
But in between that Olivia appeared in a VT for 2019 contestant Joseph Garratt – and got to know the producers.
Olivia said: “I remember being on the set and the producer being like ‘would you do love island’ and I was like ‘probably not’.
“That was just through my acting agent, they were like it’s a promo for ITV but they couldn’t tell me what it was.”
The former ring girl has previously laughed off claims that she was deliberately placed in the villa to stir up trouble among the islanders.
She joked to HOAR: “Apparently my dad is CEO of Love Island. You have to laugh don’t you?”
The star continued: “The truth is I was a real contestant, I was not planted in there for any other ulterior motive,” she admitted. “I was my real self the whole way through.”
Olivia also dismissed any suggestion that she was directed by ITV bosses while inside the South African villa.
She added: “Of course they have to make a show at the end of the day but nothing was forced.”
Olivia was among the original lineup when this year’s winter series of Love Island got underway in January.
She was coupled up with six different boys during her stint and, among them, had connections with both Tom Clare and Kai Fagan.
Their heads were later turned by other girls, but Olivia eventually found romance with bombshell Maxwell Samuda.
