Spending your hard-earned cash on toys that end up trashed can be frustrating. Luckily, there are simple tricks to rejuvenate your children's toys and give them a longer life. With these easy methods, you can have their playthings looking as good as new in no time.

Ink Removal

Hand sanitiser isn't just for killing germs, it's also a dream at removing pen marks from toys. Simply add a little product to a clean cloth and wipe over the stain. Watch as it melts away before your eyes, leaving a shiny, clean toy behind.

New 'Do For Dolls

If your little treasure's doll has matted and dirty hair, you can easily restore its sleek shine with fabric conditioner. Massage a little liquid through the doll's hair until it's thoroughly soaked, then leave it in a bowl for at least an hour. While the conditioner is still in the hair, use a wide-tooth comb (or a fine-tooth comb for smaller dolls like Barbie) to brush through and remove tangles. Rinse out the conditioner with warm water and pat dry with a towel, avoiding blowdryers that can damage the hair.

Plush Toys

Check the label on soft toys, as many of them can go in the washing machine for a quick refresh. For those that can't, try vacuuming out dust and using a soapy cloth to help remove dirt. If you're concerned about bugs like dust mites, you can put the toys in the freezer overnight to kill them. If the stuffing has come out, repad with scrunched-up socks and use a few stitches to close any holes.

Get Rid of Yellowing

White plastic toys can turn yellow with age, but baking soda can bring back their brilliance. Create a paste by mixing baking soda with a little water, then use a cloth to spread it on the yellowed area. Let it sit for a few hours before wiping it off with a clean, damp cloth.
