CALLS to reform the civil service have grown after Tory MPs accused it of “trying to assassinate” Suella Braverman.
The Home Secretary was cleared of a ministerial code breach after a row over speeding points.
An ally of Suella Braverman has said that ‘the civil service blob is out of control’ and that they tried to ‘assassinate’ the Home Secretary
She had asked civil servants if she could take a speed awareness course in private.
They declined to help as they are not allowed to assist ministers on personal matters and the story was leaked.
The row has angered her allies with one saying “the civil service blob is out of control.
“They tried to assassinate Suella”.
“The case for reform is growing louder.”
A former Cabinet Minister claimed few people believe the civil service is “politically neutral”.
They said: “My guess is that we will see a Conservative government in due course come forward with proposals for reform.”
