A trans rights group known as Stonewall has ignited a firestorm of criticism after urging more than 300 schools to abandon the use of terms like "boys and girls." Members of the Conservative Party have lambasted the organization, with some even calling for it to be "blacklisted" from interfering in education.

Tory MPs Slam Stonewall's Guidance

Tory MPs have expressed their strong disapproval of Stonewall's recent guidance, which encourages schools to eliminate gendered language. The organization's "champions scheme," which boasts around 300 participating schools, rewards institutions for removing "unnecessarily gendered language." Additionally, the scheme advises schools to introduce gender-neutral toilets and offer similar uniforms for all students.

"Stonewall Sucks Ever More from Hard-Pressed Schools"

Tory MP Sir John Hayes did not hold back when criticizing Stonewall, stating that the organization places an undue burden on struggling schools and seeks to manipulate the language used by teachers and students. He went so far as to urge schools to "avoid Stonewall like the plague." Conservative Nick Fletcher also questioned the guidance's compliance with the Education Act, which prohibits the promotion of ideological materials in classrooms. He suggested that the government should consider creating a blacklist of organizations that violate these provisions and should not be utilized by schools.

Stonewall Responds to Criticism

In response to the backlash, a spokesperson for Stonewall emphasized that LGBTQ+ children still face high levels of bullying and encounter significant obstacles to education. The spokesperson argued that it is essential for schools to create a supportive and safe environment for these students to learn and grow.
