Nigel Farage last night claimed he had just had his ninth bank rejection

It came as ex-Ukip and Brexit Party chief Nigel Farage last night claimed he had just had his ninth bank rejection.

He said: “Maybe I need to go to law to fight this — I don’t want to live in communist China.”

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said he would strengthen protections for customers.

And Ms Frazer said: “I agree with Jeremy — it’s important people are able to get facilities.”

She said she was “quite concerned” that bank accounts might be closed for the wrong reasons.

Today Dominic Lawson revealed his own daughter was blocked from setting up an account too – because of her links to a “politically exposed person” – her grandfather the late ex-Chancellor, Nigel Lawson.

Mr Lawson also claimed at least ten current MPs had seen their own bank accounts shut down for inexplicable reasons.
